Commencing in 2017, Reasonable Cause will be offering one vocational training scholarship each year to assist disadvantaged young adult Cambodians to pursue their career goals and assist in breaking the cycle of poverty.
2017 Reasonable Cause Vocational Training Scholarship Winner – Khlem
Khlem is a young man whose parents both passed away some years ago. He was raised and educated through his school years with assistance from Sunrise Cambodia. On leaving school he started working at Mday Thom restaurant in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It was there that Khlem developed the ambition to become a chef. With financial assistance from a Reasonable Cause Vocational Training Scholarship, Khlem is now studying to be a chef at École Paul Dubrule, an elite hotel and hospitality industry training school.
March 2018 update – Khlem has now successfully completed his classroom training and has passed all of his exams. He is currently doing a practical placement at a hotel in Siem Reap. It is anticipated that he will graduate as a chef in June 2018.
